Nervous Laughter: The Soft Sculptures of Audrey Montoya
The work of artist Audrey Montoya feels both fantastical and familiar. Straddling the fun and the strange in a perfectly cohesive and elevated way is Montoya’s forte. Her soft sculptures feel intuitive, original, and nostalgic. Her art combines subtly scary visuals with delightfully common items, and brings them to life them with a compelling humor that truly sets her art apart. We are beyond excited for her solo opening at the gallery on October 24, 2024. This will be Ms. Montoya’s first solo show featuring large scale sculptures in her signature style.

Because silent films are not boring or inaccessible -- we swear! This Charlie Chaplin masterpiece is an emotional, funny, and well told story. You’ll tear up, you’ll laugh, you’ll be glad you’ve seen it. Like all the films in this series, we demystify the dense intellectualism that sometimes surrounds them -- so that you can feel confident about their relevance, unique beauty, and timeless story telling.
Lingering Thoughts on Transient Things: The Paintings of Heather McKenna Pardo
McKenna Pardo’s paintings capture ethereal elements of light and space and anchors them in shadow and proportion in a truly unique and special, utterly skillful way. Her art feels sturdy but never heavy, in fact it captures so much weightless energy within the canvas. The conversation her paint and canvas depict is not dense, but it’s somehow unavoidably deep. While keeping things ever so slightly out of focus, she manages to convey a clarity of purpose. One can never confuse her paintings with that of any other young painter. She is singular in her perspective and design, and presents imagery that feels visually symphonic, emotionally familiar, and yet consistently surprising in it’s form. We are excited to present an exhibition of her paintings in the gallery this fall. Artist reception on September 14th at 4-6pm.
